The flow switch acts as a safety mechanism that has a built in sensor which sits in the pipework for both the heating and domestic hot water systems. The flow switch is designed to detect movement in the pipework and feeds the information back to the printed circuit board (PCB) which then allows the ignition sequence to progress. The purpose of the flow switch is to make sure there is plenty of water in the system and prevents the burner from activating if the system is low on water.
