The pressure relief valve, sometimes called safety valve, relief valve or the PRV is used to relieve the pressure in a system. It is set to open when the pressure within the system rises past a certain point to stop the system from being damaged . Each PRV has a set "bar", when the pressure within the system exceeds the bar the pressure relief valve opens and the build up of water is discharged which reduces the amount of pressure within the system .
