The pressure relief valve, sometimes called relief valve, PRV or safety valve, is used to relieve the pressure in a system. It is set to open if the system pressure goes above a certain point to prevent the system being severely damaged . Each PRV has an internal "bar" limit set, once this bar is reached the prv opens to allow water to escape which in turn decreases the pressure within the system .
